Following the entry into force of the Climate Law, the Directorate of Climate Change continues to swiftly implement the measures mandated under the legislation. In this context, work on the establishment of the “National Emissions Trading System” is approaching completion.
In parallel, the Directorate of Climate Change has been carrying out efforts to improve the quality of the “Verified Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reports,” which will serve as the primary data source for the Emissions Trading System. The “Verification Assignments for Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reports” of facilities covered by the “Regulation on the Monitoring of Greenhouse Gas Emissions” was carried out by the Directorate of Climate Change through the Central Electronic Verifier Assignment System (MEDAS).
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Director of Climate Change Mehrali Ecer, was attended by representatives of verification bodies, Head of Monitoring of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Department Volkan Polat, and relevant technical staff.
At the meeting, the verification assignments of 10 accredited verification bodies for the 2025 greenhouse gas emissions reports of 758 facilities were automatically completed via MEDAS.
