Türkiye's 7th National Communication and 3rd Two-Year Report Preparation Project
Türkiye is an Annex I country within the scope of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to which it became a party on May 24, 2004. It is obliged to submit National Notifications on Climate Change to the UNFCCC Secretariat every 4 years.
Türkiye's “7th National Communication” is realized jointly by our Ministry and United Nations Development Program Turkey Office and it is financed by GEF. It has been prepared within the scope of the “Support Project for the Preparation of the 7th National Communication and the 3rd Biennial Report” to be submitted by Türkiye to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The primary objective of the Project, which started in September 2017, is to support the preparation of the 7th National Communication and the 3rd Biennial Report, Türkiye as an Annex I Contracting State, will submit to the UNFCCC within the framework of its obligations under the Convention. In the preparation of the report, cooperation was made with relevant public institutions and organizations, private sector representatives, non-governmental organizations and universities.
With the project, the preparation of national communications, the preparation of greenhouse gas emission inventory, and the preparation of greenhouse gas emission projections, which are the reporting obligations of our country within the scope of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol, are also fulfilled. In this context, our Country's 7th National Communication on Climate Change was dated December 26, 2018; The 3rd Biennial Report was submitted to the UNFCCC Secretariat on 1 January 2018. The 4th Biennial Report has been prepared and submitted to the secretariat on 27 December 2019.
