Orhan SOLAK Director

Orhan SOLAK was born in 1980 in Karamürsel, Kocaeli. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Karamürsel. He graduated from Kocaeli University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering in 2003. In 2015, he completed his master's degree at Hacettepe University, Environmental Engineering Department.

President Solak, who started his career in the private sector in 2005, started to work as an Assistant Expert in the abolished Ministry of Environment and Forestry in 2007.

Solak, who worked in the former Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of Environment and Forestry in the first year of his service, worked as an expert between 2008 and 2011 at the IPA Coordination and Implementation Center, which provides the management of the European Union Pre-Accession Assistance Instrument (IPA) environmental funds in our country. He has served in.

After working at Thrace Development Agency from 2011-2012, he started to work in the Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, General Directorate of Environmental Management, in 2012.


He worked as an expert in 2012-2014 at the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Department of Climate Change, respectively, as a branch manager between 2014-2018, and as Head of Department in the Department of Climate Change and Adaptation between 2018-2021.

Solak, who is married and has two children, has been serving as the National Focal Point of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change since 2018.

As of October 29, 2021, Orhan SOLAK has been serving as the Chairman of the Climate Change Department under the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.
