Prof. Halil Hasar, Director of Climate Change, briefed members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) during a dedicated COP31 informational meeting.
Chaired by Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Fuat Oktay, the meeting focused on the preparations and latest developments regarding COP31, which Türkiye is set to host this November. Committee members were presented with the strategic roadmap and progress achieved to date.
In his address, Director Hasar shared technical details surrounding COP31, outlining Türkiye's position within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, COP processes, COP31 governance and organization, Türkiye’s candidacy journey, ongoing prep work, the country's broader climate policies, and the COP31 Action Agenda.
The session also covered upcoming milestones and the next phases leading up to the COP31 summit.
