Director of Climate Change Prof. Halil Hasar met with scientists who contribute to the processes of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Hasar exchanged views on the reports prepared under the IPCC Seventh Assessment Cycle, which began with the 60th Session of the IPCC held in Istanbul on 16–19 January 2024, as well as on their scope and content.
During the meeting at the Directorate, participants discussed key reports, including the “Special Report on Climate Change and Cities”, the “Methodology Report on Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies” and “Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage, the Seventh Assessment Report”, and “the 2027 IPCC Methodology Report on Inventories of Short-Lived Climate Forcers”.
Stressing that every step taken in this process is valuable, Hasar thanked the participating scientists.
Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Hasar noted that Türkiye is making rapid progress in the fight against climate change and underlined that full support will continue to be extended to the scientists who are contributing to these efforts.
The meeting was attended by IPCC Bureau Member Assoc. Prof. Şiir Kılkış, Prof. Osman Balaban, Prof. Serhat Akın, Assoc. Prof. Emre Alp, Dr. Emre Özgür, and experts from the Directorate of Climate Change.
