Deputy Director of Climate Change Mehrali Ecer represented the Directorate at the third edition of the annual forum.
The event addressed key environmental priorities, including integrated waste management, national water policies, the industrial green transition, and emerging value chains, alongside a dedicated high-level session titled "Türkiye’s Road to COP31."
Presiding over the special COP31 session, Deputy Director Ecer emphasized that the global community's most pressing challenge remains the implementation gap. "The alignment between international commitments and tangible, on-the-ground results is still falling short," Ecer warned.
"Therefore, we are preparing for COP31 with a strong approach centered on dialogue, consensus, and action,” Ecer said. "COP31 must transcend mere declarations of intent; it needs to catalyze actual implementation and foster international trust," Ecer noted. "We believe the Global Climate Action Agenda is pivotal to this transition. While previous COP presidencies laid crucial groundwork, institutionalizing these initiatives and ensuring their long-term continuity has become an absolute necessity. Türkiye aims to build directly on the milestones achieved at COP30 to deliver a more permanent, resilient framework."
Ecer urged attendees to register with the Non-State Actors Platform for Climate Action portal and engage with activation groups designed for collaborative, practical problem-solving. "The success of this climate mandate rests not only on state action, but on the active mobilization of the private sector, local authorities, and broader stakeholders," he concluded. "We are determined to establish COP31 as a definitive turning point where multilateral decisions translate into measurable outcomes, implementation gains momentum, and global cooperation deepens."
Hosted by the Bursa Business School, the forum brought together senior policymakers, non-governmental organizations, leading academics, and key industry delegates.
