Carried out under the Türkiye Carbon Market Development Project, a series of technical site visits were attended by representatives from the Directorate of Climate Change and relevant stakeholder institutions.

A broad range of industrial facilities operating across the country were visited as part of these facility visits.

Conducted in close cooperation with public- and private-sector stakeholders, the visits have provided a solid basis for understanding facilities’ technical capacities, their process management capabilities, and their expectations in relation to ETS benchmarking studies.

On-site assessments were undertaken at major industrial facilities, including Oyka Kâğıt Ambalaj, the country’s only producer of cellulose from raw materials; the Çatalağzı and Eren Energy Thermal Power Plants, which supply a significant share of Türkiye’s electricity demand; leading iron and steel producers Kardemir and Erdemir; and Tatmetal Çelik Sanayi.

The visits also included briefings on the Türkiye Emissions Trading System (ETS) benchmarking studies being conducted by the Directorate of Climate Change, alongside reciprocal exchanges of views.
