At the 30th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), held in Brazil, Türkiye was represented by Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum. The Minister stated during a press briefing on next year’s COP31 Conference of the Parties that “the lasting steps we have taken on the path toward our 2053 Net Zero Emission Target, and our confidence in both the ideas and the concrete actions guiding this process, have resonated across the world and carried Türkiye to this point.”
Minister Kurum noted that Türkiye would lead a fair and inclusive COP process together with Australia. He continued, “Türkiye will amplify the voice of all those who have suffered from the negative impacts of climate change and of all vulnerable people displaced from their homes. Throughout COP31, Türkiye and Australia will advance the most effective solutions to address the urgent needs of humanity and our planet. I hope this significant step we have taken with our Australian friends will serve as an example for all humankind.”
