The Directorate of Climate Change organized a “Media Day” to promote local climate action in Türkiye and raise public awareness. 

Held online under the EU Partnership for Local Climate Action in Türkiye Project, and jointly organized by the Directorate of Climate Change and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Media Day served as a platform where journalists and media professionals were provided with briefings on the Climate Law and ongoing efforts related to its implementation.

Organized with a view to informing both the public and the media about Türkiye’s first Climate Law, which has recently entered into force, the event addressed the Climate Law and Local Climate Action, the new regulatory framework introduced by the law, carbon pricing mechanisms, the Emissions Trading System of Türkiye, the role of voluntary carbon markets, as well as green finance and taxonomy initiatives in detail.

The event was held within the framework of the “EU Partnership for Local Climate Action in Türkiye” Project, which is financed by the European Union, and implemented by UNDP Türkiye, with the Directorate of Climate Change as the beneficiary.

The Media Day was attended by a large number of journalists and media professionals.
