Within the framework of the Türkiye Carbon Market Development Project under the World Bank’s Partnership for Market Implementation (PMI) Program, site visits were conducted in the cement, fertilizer, iron and steel, and power generation sectors.

To support the benchmarking studies that will form the basis for free allocation practices under the Emissions Trading System (ETS), technical assessments were carried out at the facilities of Çimsa Cement, Gemlik Fertilizer, Bursa Cement, Asil Steel, Borçelik, and the EÜAŞ Bursa Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant, with the participation of representatives from the Directorate of Climate Change, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, and the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

During the visits, production processes and greenhouse gas monitoring practices were reviewed, and information was exchanged on technical issues such as the ETS design, sectoral benchmarking studies, the calculation of product-based activity data, and the sub-installation approach.
