The Directorate of Climate Change carried out a study visit to Brussels to obtain first-hand insight into the European Union’s sustainable finance policies and taxonomy practices.
Organized by the Department of Climate Finance and Incentives, the visit included discussions in Brussels on developments in the Green Taxonomy process in cooperation with the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
As part of the program, comprehensive technical meetings were held with relevant directorates-general of the European Commission, the National Bank of Belgium, the European Association of Cooperative Banks, and other stakeholder institutions.
Developments regarding Türkiye’s National Green Taxonomy process and alignment efforts with the EU were reviewed with Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the European Union.
The engagements delivered significant gains in strengthening the technical sufficiency and international credibility of Türkiye’s sustainable finance regulations, contributing to the EU integration process, and fostering cooperation between the public and private sectors.
