Director of Climate Change Prof. Hasar paid an official visit to Banu Aslan, Director General of Professional Services at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.
At the meeting, where joint working programs between the Directorate of Climate Change and the Directorate General of Professional Services were discussed, the parties agreed to act jointly on a wide range of projects, including energy efficiency in buildings, emissions reduction, and the channeling of external financial flows.
Emphasizing the importance of coordination among ministerial units, Director Hasar stated, “The Directorate General of Professional Services is a key directorate that develops policy.
We share common ground across many of our areas of work. For projects that will benefit our country, it is extremely important for units under the Ministry to work together. As the Directorate of Climate Change, we are fully open to this cooperation.”
Director Hasar also noted that work is under way on both new buildings designed to be compatible with climate change and the retrofitting of existing buildings, stating, “Given the increasing number of new buildings over the years, our country represents a significant laboratory in this field. In this regard, it is essential to carry out the necessary work on energy efficiency in buildings and on the construction of climate-compatible buildings. In addition, acting jointly with the Directorate General of Professional Services in areas such as channeling external financial flows, emissions reduction, and supporting the green transition will deliver tangible benefits for our country. With this awareness, we can take the first steps of many projects here.”
Director Hasar further noted that preparations are under way for a project titled “Energy Efficiency in Buildings: Business Models for Scaling Energy Efficiency Measures,” explaining that the project will attract external financing to Türkiye and enable buildings to be upgraded in line with energy efficiency standards.
At the meeting, where a decision was taken to implement the project jointly with the Directorate General of Professional Services, Director General Banu Aslan emphasized the value of the planned cooperation and stated that they are always ready to work together on the energy efficiency project and other areas of collaboration, including through the establishment of joint working groups.
The “Energy Efficiency in Buildings” project aims to develop measures and prefabricated solutions to reduce energy consumption at industrial scale in new and existing buildings, establish incentives and innovative business models for energy efficiency investments, and make the building materials supply chain more climate-friendly.
Deputy Director of Climate Change Tuğba Dinçbaş accompanied Director Hasar at the meeting, which was also attended by relevant unit managers from the Directorate General of Professional Services.
