Director of Climate Change Prof. Halil Hasar received Pierre Beynet, Head of the OECD Country Studies Division, and the accompanying delegation.
At the meeting held at the Directorate, participants reviewed work related to the green transition chapter of the “Economic Developments Review Committee” report published by the OECD every two years.
The meeting also included briefings on Türkiye’s long-term climate strategy, which serves as the roadmap for the country’s 2053 net-zero emissions target.
Noting that green transition is far too broad a concept to be confined solely to the energy sector, Director Hasar underlined that three major sectors must not be overlooked and stressed that the building, transport, and industrial sectors are being addressed within the scope of the green transition.
Director Hasar also emphasized that effective policies must be developed for these efforts to deliver results and provided a detailed overview of Türkiye’s ongoing work in this field.
The closed-door meeting was attended by Deputy Director of Climate Change Dr. Tuğba Dinçbaş, department heads, and officials and experts from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Energy.
