Director of Climate Change Prof. Hasar attended the webinar organized by the Business Council for Sustainable Development of Türkiye (BCSD Türkiye).

At the “Climate Law Information Webinar,” chaired by BCSD Türkiye Chair Ediz Günsel and moderated by Board Member Seçil Yıldız, key issues regarding the Climate Law were discussed.

Speaking at the webinar, which was attended by BCSD Türkiye members and numerous invited guests, Director Hasar provided information on what the law introduces and how the Emissions Trading System will operate.

Referring to the Climate Law as having been prepared primarily within the framework of the 2053 Net Zero Emissions target and the green growth vision, Director Hasar said, “The law sets out a legal framework that demonstrates Türkiye’s determination to advance its fight against climate change. It is not merely an environmental stance but also a strategic step taken for our country’s economic, social, and ecological future.”

He underlined that the law recognizes the net zero emissions target and the green growth vision at statutory level and establishes the consideration of climate justice and a just transition in climate policies.

During the webinar, which lasted over an hour, Director Hasar answered all questions regarding the content of Türkiye’s first Climate Law.

Addressing numerous topics such as the Emissions Trading System, international agreements, the Green Taxonomy, and local climate action plans, Director Hasar emphasized that the law represents the construction of a shared future and indicated, “We must conduct this process together in a fair and inclusive manner that leaves no one behind. The steps we take today will lay the foundations of a more resilient, more competitive, and more sustainable Türkiye.”
