On the second day of the Bonn Climate Change Conference, COP31 President-Designate and Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum signed the 'COP31 Host Country Agreement' and continued high-level talks regarding Türkiye’s upcoming presidency.

COP31 President-Designate Kurum attended the official signing ceremony for the 'COP31 Host Country Agreement' held as part of the Bonn Climate Change Conference. Signing the protocol alongside Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Minister Kurum noted that constructive cooperation with the UN Secretariat will continue to strengthen in the period ahead.

ENGAGEMENTS WITH DIVERSE BLOCS FROM AFRICA TO LATIN AMERICA

As part of his schedule in Bonn, Minister Kurum held a series of consecutive meetings focused on the COP31 hosting process. He met with the African Group of Negotiators, the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), the 11-nation Umbrella Group, the Independent Alliance of Latin America and the Caribbean (AILAC), and the Arab Group. Minister Kurum also held talks with Jochen Flasbarth, Germany’s State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Listening to the priorities and expectations of the respective negotiating blocs, Minister Kurum underscored that Türkiye will continue working tirelessly to deliver an inclusive COP process where no one is left behind.
