The Directorate of Climate Change took another significant step for the iron and steel sector within the scope of its technical work on monitoring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions. The meeting on the carbon content of scrap steel was convened under the chairmanship of the Department of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Monitoring.

A wide range of issues were discussed at the meeting held at the Climate Change Directorate, with the participation of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TSPA), and representatives of verification bodies operating in the field of greenhouse gas emissions verification.

During the meeting, the expectations of both the public and private sectors were raised, and through a mutual exchange of views among sector representatives, verification bodies, and relevant public authorities, a roadmap for the carbon content of scrap steel was established.
