The annual World Ozone Day events were organized this year through a collaboration between the Directorate of Climate Change and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with support from the Provincial Directorates of National Education in Konya, Adıyaman, and Gaziantep, as well as contributions from the Provincial Directorates of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change. The events engaged 300 fifth-grade students.
Volkan Polat, Head of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Monitoring Department at the Directorate of Climate Change, delivered the opening addresses at the events.
Following the opening remarks, students participated in awareness-raising activities, including educational animations and traditional Hacivat-Karagöz shadow plays centered on ozone layer preservation.
The program featured interactive workshops where students created stories, paintings, and puppets from recycled materials, as well as ceramic art.
These hands-on activities were designed to educate the younger generation on the importance of protecting the ozone layer and addressing the climate crisis.
World Ozone Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm through these meaningful events across Konya, Adıyaman, and Gaziantep.
