The "Best Practices Training in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Sector" and the "F-Gas Leak Detection Training for Organized Industrial Zones" were recently held in Konya and Adana.
Part of a broader regional rollout across Türkiye, these training initiatives have now reached over 3,000 technicians and industry representatives. Organized by the Directorate of Climate Change with support from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the "Best Practices Training in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Sector" and the "F-Gas Leak Detection Training" sessions in Konya and Adana brought together more than 200 industry professionals.
Delivering the opening remarks of the training program, Volkan Polat, Head of the Department of Monitoring Greenhouse Gas Emissions, shared Türkiye’s ongoing initiatives in combating climate change and emphasized that the country is successfully fulfilling its obligations arising from international agreements.
He highlighted the vital role that industrialists and well-trained field technicians play in this transition. The intensive sessions provided comprehensive updates on applicable regulations on fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases) and the mandatory compliance steps for EKOMVET—the electronic database used to register equipment containing or relying on fluorinated greenhouse gases. Experts also covered the F-Gas Equipment Technical Personnel qualification certificate (19UY0401-5) issued by the Vocational Qualifications Authority, TS 13905 Service Adequacy certification, leak detection techniques, and cooling sector best practices.
It was observed that the training programs led to increased use of the EKOMVET system. The number of registered units surged from roughly 15,000 in 2025 to over 27,000 by mid-2026. This milestone marks a major step forward in systematically registering equipment and strengthening tracking and monitoring frameworks.
