Work on Türkiye’s Long-Term Climate Strategy (LTS) is progressing rapidly in line with the 2053 Net Zero Emission Target roadmap.
Türkiye’s Long-Term Climate Strategy will be finalized ahead of COP29 and will be officially announced by Minister Murat Kurum during the conference.
Preparations are moving forward swiftly for the COP29 Conference of the Parties, scheduled for November 11–22 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
Ahead of COP29, where Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum will unveil the 2053 Net Zero Emission Target roadmap, a high-level meeting was co-chaired by Director of Climate Change Prof. Halil Hasar and Director General of Vocational Services Banu Aslan.
During the meeting—coordinated by the Directorate of Climate Change in collaboration with the General Directorates of Environmental Management and Vocational Services—the 2053 Long-Term Climate Strategy was reviewed, with a focus on greenhouse gas emission reductions and the net zero roadmap.
Türkiye aims for its greenhouse gas emissions to peak by 2038 at the latest, followed by a steady decline to reach net zero emissions by 2053.
