Arzu ÖNSAL graduated from TED Ankara College in 1995 and graduated from METU Environmental Engineering in 1999. After graduating from the Agricultural Banking School in the 1999-2000 period, she started to work as an Assistant Specialist in the environmental sector at the State Planning Organization in 2001.
She received her expertise in 2005 with her thesis on “Cleaner Production Approach and Its Evaluation for Turkey”. She completed his MA in Environmental Engineering at METU in 2003 and Public Policy at the Harris School of Chicago University in 2011. She continued her doctorate studies in the field of climate and energy policy at METU Earth System Sciences.
Arzu ÖNSAL, as an environmental sector expert at the DPT and later at the Ministry of Development, took part in determining the macro plans and policies on the environment, preparation of national and international policy documents, financing public investment projects in this field, evaluating bilateral and multilateral international financing projects, negotiations of the EU environmental screening process. She also took part in the international negotiations and negotiations of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the UN climate change.
In 2018, T.C. Önsal, who was appointed as the Head of Environment and Sustainable Development Department in the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, has worked on regional development, urbanization, urban infrastructure, environment, housing, disaster management, and rural development. She also coordinated the preparations of the 2nd National Review of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in 2019.
ÖNSAL, who has been working as the Deputy General Manager of Social Policies at the General Directorate of Sectors and Public Investments under the Strategy and Budget Department since May 2021, was appointed as the Vice President of the Climate Change Presidency established on October 29, 2021.
