Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum shared a statement on Türkiye’s first Climate Law, which was adopted by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and enacted into law. In a post shared on his social media account, Minister Kurum wrote, “With this law, which represents the most critical milestone of the 2053 Net Zero Emissions and Green Development target announced to the world by our President, we will establish a freer research and development environment that will enable us to develop many new technologies without being subject to the influence of any country. We will advance to the strongest possible position in trade, industry, and production, and at the same time we will protect our country from all types of environmental disasters and from the negative impacts brought about by the climate crisis.”
Türkiye’s first Climate Law, which consists of 20 articles, two provisional articles, and amendments to three separate laws, was adopted by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. In a statement he posted on his social media account, Minister Kurum said, “Türkiye’s first Climate Law was adopted by our Grand National Assembly through the votes of our Members of Parliament.
“With this law, which represents the most critical milestone of the 2053 Net Zero Emissions and Green Development target announced to the world by our President, we will establish a freer research and development environment that will enable us to develop many new technologies without being subject to the influence of any country.
