The Directorate of Climate Change organized an Information Seminar with support from the Cool Up Project.

The three-day seminar, which took place in Antalya, was attended by Deputy Director of Climate Change Orhan Solak, senior officials from the Directorate, and representatives of the provincial directorates of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.

The opening address was delivered by Deputy Director Solak, who provided an overview of the procedures and operational activities carried out by the Directorate of Climate Change.

The seminar featured in-depth briefings on a broad range of regulatory and technical topics, including “Environmental Impact Assessment", “Environmental inspection processes”, “The Regulation on Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases”, “The EKOMVET and FARAVET software systems”, “Control document procedures and encountered cases”, “Remediation processes and ozone-depleting substances”. In addition, specific focus was placed on “The Regulation on the Monitoring of Greenhouse Gas Emissions”, “The Communiqué on the Monitoring and Reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions”, and “The monitoring, reporting, and verification processes applied to greenhouse gas emissions”.

Head of the Monitoring of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Department Volkan Polat delivered detailed presentations on operational procedures and inspection processes related to greenhouse gas emissions, while participants also carried out hands-on greenhouse gas emission calculations as part of the program.

Representatives from the Department of Climate Change Adaptation and Local Policies, the Department of Carbon Pricing, and the Department of Monitoring of Greenhouse Gas Emissions also gave presentations on their respective areas of work. UNDP Türkiye Climate Change and Environment Portfolio Manager Meral Mungan Arda also attended the seminar.
