Director of Climate Change Hasar, who was in Erzurum for the Traditional Zero Waste Competition Award Ceremony organized by the Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, paid a series of visits. As part of his visit, Director Hasar went to see the Climate Café, which was established in the city, marking a first for Erzurum.

Expected to be inaugurated in May by Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum, the Climate Café was built entirely using industrial waste and discarded items. Created to underscore the importance of Zero Waste, the café features tables, chairs, and other furnishings constructed from waste materials. Expected to become a popular gathering place for young people, the café will both support Zero Waste and serve as a venue for warm conversations over tea.

During his two-day visit, Director Hasar also paid courtesy visits to Erzurum Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Sekmen, Erzurum Technical University Rector Prof. Bülent Çakmak, and Erzurum Atatürk University Rector Prof. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu. Providing information on the Directorate of Climate Change and its activities, Director Hasar noted that Erzurum has been undergoing renewal and development with increasing momentum in recent years and received briefings on the universities’ ongoing work.

Following the visits, Director Hasar proceeded to the Erzurum Science Center together with Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Sekmen for the Traditional Zero Waste Competition Award Ceremony.
