Professor Halil HASAR
Professor Halil Hasar completed his bachelor, master and PhD in the field of Environmental Engineering.He became an Assistant Professor, in 2002, an Associate Professor in 2004 and Professor in 2009.
Professor Halil Hasar experienced 27 years of academic background as a professor in the field of clean and energy-efficient technologies. During this period, he participated as a speaker in many conferences as well as more than 70 SCI studies, mostly in the Q1 and Q2 categories, and his H-index is 30.
At years 2006 and 2007, he conducted his post-doctoral studies on energy-efficient treatment systems at the Biodesign Institute of Arizona State University in the United States. Subsequently, in 2011, he carried out research at University College Dublin in Ireland. Additionally, between 2013 and 2015, he worked on biotechnological analytical applications in infrastructure and treatment fields as part of an international collaborative project involving Türkiye, South Korea, and Germany.
He has served as Director at Climate Change Presidency of Türkiye since August 2023.
He was in the team in National Membrane Technologies Research Center that is within the Istanbul Technical University. He studied on several research projects about membrane processes sector in MEMTEK center and he is a member of MEMTEK board.
Professor Hasar is among the authors of the three volume work titled “Membrane Technologies and Applications in Water/Waste Water Treatment and Recovery” published by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
Under his advisory, 7 doctoral and 15 master's theses were completed on topics such as waste water/recycling/clean technology/environmental infrastructure/carbon footprint.
In addition, to date, he has worked as manager in 6 TÜBİTAK projects, as a researcher in 5 TÜBİTAK projects, as a consultant in 2 TÜBİTAK projects and as an executive and researcher in other projects supported by various institutions.
He was a member of the Group Executive Committee (GYK) in the Environment, Atmosphere, Earth and Marine Sciences Group within TÜBİTAK between 2014 and 2018. He served as a member of Invited Projects Advisory Board (ÇPDK) in Membrane Technologies and Purification Technologies call programs.
He was serving on the senate, faculty board, and technopark board as well as held various administrative positions. Between 2015 and 2020, he served as the Vice Rector, who was responsible for R&D and International Relations at Firat University. In addition, he was a member of the associate professorship preliminary evaluation commission under the Presidency of the Interuniversity Board (ÜAK) between 2016 and 2019, He also performed as an instructor in various non-university training activities such as environmental officer training and waste management organized by the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs and the Union of Turkish Municipalities.
