The workshop titled “Interdisciplinary Approaches and Green Skills in the Fight Against Climate Change” was held in Zonguldak.
Organized by the Environmental Problems Research and Application Center of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, the workshop was attended by representatives from the Directorate of Climate Change.
The event addressed the global and local impacts of climate change and response strategies through an interdisciplinary lens, while also examining sustainable solutions and the skills required to drive the green transition.
Held at the Sezai Karakoç Cultural Center, the workshop opened with remarks by Ayşin Turpancı, Head of Climate Negotiations and International Policies Department at the Directorate of Climate Change.
During the workshop, the impacts of the climate crisis on Türkiye and worldwide were examined on the basis of scientific data, and a wide range of critical issues were discussed, from the development of ecological policies to strengthening public awareness.
Experts underlined the importance of cooperation among academia, the public sector, and the private sector in building a climate-resilient future.
Panel sessions featured academics from a broad range of disciplines, including engineering, health sciences, and social sciences, who delivered comprehensive assessments based on up-to-date data and scientific research.
The sessions also highlighted the key role of interdisciplinary collaboration in climate policymaking and the integration of green skills into education and training processes.
In her opening address, Turpancı outlined the activities of the Directorate of Climate Change within the framework of its vision for combating climate change.
The two-day workshop, which brought together a large number of academics, climate ambassadors, students, and invited guests, concluded with the publication of a final declaration.
