The closing event of the “Cleaner Production Project for Climate Change Adaptation,” which is implemented under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, was held in Eskişehir. The Conference on Climate Change Adaptation Strategies in the Industrial Sector, which was hosted by the Eskişehir Chamber of Industry, was attended by Deputy Director of Climate Change Mehrali Ecer. Stating that the climate crisis has become increasingly visible with each passing day, Deputy Director Ecer emphasized that Türkiye has been putting key policy instruments into effect in line with its 2053 Net Zero Emissions Target. Noting that 2024 was the hottest year in Türkiye in the past 54 years, Ecer indicated that the industrial sector must build resilience against this transformation, and projects of this kind are critical for strengthening local industry.

Providing information on Türkiye’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution, the 2024–2030 Strategy and Action Plans, and the 2053 Long-Term Climate Strategy, Ecer stressed that the Green Taxonomy of Türkiye, which has been prepared within this framework, will close a significant gap in adaptation finance. Within the scope of the program, panels addressed the relationship between climate finance and green transformation and the economy, as well as good practices implemented in industry. The Cleaner Production Project for Climate Change Adaptation aims to encourage industrial enterprises to better identify climate risks and to transition to sustainable production models based on resource efficiency. Through the broadly attended program, Türkiye’s industry is aimed to be made resilient to the climate crisis.

In addition to Deputy Director Ecer, the program was attended by Celalettin Kesikbaş, Chairman of the Board of the Eskişehir Chamber of Industry, Deputy Governor of Eskişehir Dr. Hasan Çiçek, sector representatives, and many invited guests.
