The closing meeting of the project, which was implemented under the coordination of the Directorate of Climate Change with the support of the French Development Agency and represents a major milestone in the establishment of Türkiye’s National Green Taxonomy framework, was attended by Deputy Director of Climate Change Mehrali Ecer and AFD Türkiye Country Director Xavier Muron.
Speaking at the closing program, which brought together representatives from governmental organizations, financial institutions, the private sector, and international stakeholders to share the project’s outputs and assess Türkiye’s priorities for the coming period in the sustainable finance agenda, Deputy Director Ecer emphasized the critical importance of the green taxonomy in line with Türkiye’s low-carbon transition objectives.
Ecer indicated that the taxonomy plays a key role in aligning climate policies with financial flows and in Türkiye’s integration into international sustainable finance standards.
As part of the closing program, a panel session titled “Taxonomy Practices, Financing Dynamics, and COP31 Expectations” was also held, moderated by Deputy Director Ecer and attended by representatives from the finance sector and the real economy.
Following the panel session, discussions focused on the development process of the Green Taxonomy of Türkiye, alignment efforts with the EU Taxonomy, gap analyses, assessments of technical screening criteria, and digital tools developed to support implementation.

This infrastructure will support both the effective implementation of national sustainability policies and easier access to international financing sources.
Implemented with the objectives of establishing Türkiye’s national green taxonomy framework, assessing alignment with the EU Taxonomy, adapting technical screening criteria to the Turkish economy, and developing a practical reporting infrastructure for the finance and real sectors, the project contributed to strengthening Türkiye’s sustainable finance architecture through the development of core tools such as the taxonomy draft, gap and alignment analyses, reporting templates, and the Green Taxonomy Platform of Türkiye.
